Outdoor Adventure Program Intern

Job Title: Outdoor Adventure Program Intern

Status: Part-time

As our part-time Outdoor Adventure Program Intern, you will get to have your hands in a great deal of meaningful work - from working with kids, to taking kids on outdoor adventures, to assisting in getting gear ready for these trips. A large part of the role is working with our REACH for Nature after-school program at several IPS schools in Indianapolis. This is a crucial resource to our community that assists in social-emotional learning and academic recovery for youth. You’ll work with other REACH staff to facilitate after-school programming at our partner schools: Francis Parker Elementary School, Christian Park Elementary School, Thomas Gregg, or Indy Met High School. You will get to help kids reconnect with the natural world and with one another through teaching them about the environment and conservationism. Once a month, you’ll be a part of a Saturday day trip hiking or canoeing to a local or Indiana state park to give students an immersive nature experience that they may not otherwise receive. You will also receive personal and professional development in working with kids from diverse backgrounds and leading outdoor experiences.

Does this sound like you?

  • You’re energized by mentoring kids and want to make an impact on our future leaders.
  • You’re available during after school hours, approximately 3-6pm and 1-2 Saturdays each month. You’re looking for something part-time that aligns with your personal or professional goals.
  • You’re an energetic, professional, fresh, and relatable to kids. This is a great entry-level position for gap year students, Indianapolis locals who need a part-time gig, or December graduates looking for work during their full-time search.
  • You’re looking for a new opportunity to build something from the ground up and wanting to try out something new.
  • You’re adaptable, creative, and you love to think on your feet.
  • You have experience working on a team or leading staff and want to grow in your abilities to lead and inspire.
  • You like taking curriculum and putting it into action. You like being given materials and lessons and implementing them!

We are seeing kids impacted by discovering the joy and beauty of exploring the outdoors. We'd love for you to adventure with us!
