Counter Trafficking and Protection Intern

Position Title: Counter Trafficking and Protection Unit Intern

Organization and Unit: International Organization for Migration (IOM)

Duty Station: IOM Office, Washington DC

Proposed Duration: 3 to 6 months

Length & Hours: This position is 40 hours/week; Open to candidates who are eligible

to work in the Unites States.

Stipend Available: Min USD725 – Max USD1400 per month

Overview:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in CORMF Washington and direct supervision of the Counter Trafficking and Protection Unit Project Coordinator; the intern will support donor liaison functions with JTIP, INL and other US donors and relevant IOM Missions implementing counter-trafficking and protection projects.

Learning Objectives:

1. Support review and submission process of reports for relevant US-based donors

2. Support review and submission process of concept notes and proposals for relevant US-based donors

3. Support development of agendas and other tasks related to official visits to Washington

4. Collect, analyze and organize information related to donor priorities in the context of counter-trafficking and protection

5. Assist with creation of guidance and visibility materials

6. Any other tasks that may be assigned.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must, at the time of application,

a) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or

b) be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or

c) have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.

  • must be between 20 and 36 years of age.

Education

  • The qualified candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or comparable experience and knowledge in areas such as sustainability, facility management, and eco-friendly initiatives. Pursuing a master’s degree is preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organizations in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Experience working on anti-trafficking or broader protection issues is an advantage.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Discretion, attention to detail, client-orientation, patience, and a willingness to learn new things.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Experience in developing newsletters, infographics, and other communication tools preferred.
