Space Systems Command is the birthplace of U.S. Space Force's ballistic missile and military space program and is the center of acquisition excellence for acquiring and developing military space systems. The FM division consist of a mixture of the most experienced military, government civilians and local contractor team.
The candidate for this position will serve as a developmental budget analyst who has the capability to develop skills in managing and performing various budgetary activities of assigned units. These activities include, but not limited to, overseeing, and managing assigned budget; ensuring that all financial activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements; analyzing financial and budgetary requirements to develop recommendations for budgetary decisions; providing decision support and analysis to support budget formulation, planning, justification, and execution process. Furthermore, the candidate will interpret and assess impact of new and/or revised Congressional legislation on the formulation of budgets; help implement financial policies and procedures; analyze fiscal law policy and procedures to ensure compliance during budget audits. The candidate will develop goals and objectives that integrate organization and control objectives; provide advice, and financial support for the development and acquisition of assigned units; identify programs shortfalls, develops mitigation plan, and helps advocate for additional program funds. This position requires regular interaction and coordination with assigned units Budget Teams.
The budget analyst in this development position will need to be capable of independent work with existing Operations and Maintenance (O&M) budget monitoring, General Accounting and Finance System (GAFS-BQ), Commander's Resources Integration System (CRIS), Defense Travel System, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). This position requires analyst to manage assigned accounts, collaborate and share information with the rest of the financial team assigned to other accounts in portfolio for the greater success of the organization. Position also requires the ability to communicate effectively with leadership.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to analysis of financial data.
2. Knowledge of DoD acquisition requirements, development, and approval processes. 3. Knowledge of the requirements, techniques, procedures, and practices of generally accepted accounting principles and standards.
4. Skill in formulating, justifying, and/or analyzing financial requirements of the assigned program. 5. Ability to communicate, plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.

Requirements:
1. Must be a U.S Citizen.
2. PCS/Relocation funding is available.
3. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
4. Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
5. May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
6. May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
7. This position is eligible for telework 2-4 days a pay period.

9. This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Developmental Program (APDP).
10. The employee must meet or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
11. This is a Financial Management Level 02 Certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d. Incumbent shall comply with the requirement of this certification program.
12. Employee is expected to meet Continuing Acquisition Education requirements.
