Sexual Assault Exam Payment Claim Specialist
This position serves as a Claims Specialist for the Minnesota Sexual Assault Exam Payment Program. This position is responsible for overseeing the payment program, determining eligibility of submitted claims by health care providers, processing claims manually or through an online payment system, working in conjunction with the Office of Justice fiscal staff to ensure proper payment through SWIFT, answer questions posed by health care providers, pull data as requested by partners and elected officials, and convene stakeholders and partners as needed for program development, process improvement, and information sharing.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of professional level experience analyzing complex documents within one of the following areas: business accounting, human services, social work, medical services, or legal services. Experience to include the following:
NOTE: A bachelors or masters degree in social work, human services, business management, or a related field may substitute for one year of professional work experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively during in-person, written and phone interactions with clients, service providers, and the public.
- Excellent math, reading, and writing skills sufficient to analyze claims, examine invoices and provide reasoning for needed process improvements.
- Skill in the use of computers and applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database management.
- Human relations skills sufficient to tactfully give positive as well as problem-centered feedback in a manner that maintains effective working relationships.
- Ability to work cooperativity with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to learn and apply multiple laws, rules, and program guidelines, calculate benefits; solve problems and make non-routine decisions quickly.
- Knowledge of medical billing codes.
- Experience training and facilitating stakeholder engagement and management.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
