HR Generalist/Risk Control (Safety) Supervisor

What you will be doing

We have an exciting HR Generalist/Risk Control (Safety) Supervisor  career opportunity at our Anchorage, Alaska Carrs Distribution Center!

 

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST:

  • Facilitate various training as needed in the areas of management & associate development, diversity, harassment, new hire orientations, and performance management. 
  • Communicate and ensure compliance with compensation, benefits, leave policy and other programs. 
  • Support for all benefit related questions and issues, including providing consultation to business groups on benefit impacts through employee leaves. 
  • Ensure consistency and fairness in policy and procedure as they relate to Federal, State and Local laws.
  • Investigate all employment grievances, including EEO, ADA and report findings to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Process and manage all organizational changes and movements through PeopleSoft. This includes conducting data audits to ensure accuracy. 
  • Full-life cycle recruiting, including but not limited to; building strong business partnerships with Hiring Manager, developing effective recruiting strategies, source and identify candidates, review and screen resumes, and interview candidates of all levels including management roles and effectively manage applicants through applicant tracking system from application to onboarding.

 

RISK MANAGEMENT:

  • Develop, introduce, implement, and monitors adherence to the DC’s Safety culture, policies, and procedures in compliance with state, federal and local laws and regulations. 
  • Oversee injury and accident investigations.  
  • Analyzes injuries and accidents to identify the root cause.   
  • Identifies injury and accident trends and assists various departments in the implementation of reduction strategies.
  • Acts as primary interface with groups such as government agencies or insurance companies. Represents the Company's interests as directed and approved at regulatory agency proceedings.
  • Communicates risk control and safety issues and objectives to management and associates.
  • Works closely with 3rd party worker’s compensation claims administrator interacting on a frequent basis to aid in managing claims. With proper controls in place, collaborates with claims administrator to provide claim settlement authority.
  • Manages the employee return-to-work programs, modified duty programs, and medical case management programs. 
  • Works closely with property and liability insurance consultants, coordinating inspections, evaluating recommendations, and ensuring completion of recommendations.
  • Implements corporate directives, e.g. ergonomic observations, hazard assessments, approved practices, data and metrics analyses. 
  • Develops, facilitates, coordinates and monitor safety training programs.  Monitors training of new associates with respect to safety policies and procedures. 
  • Ensures Distribution Center security program has necessary controls in place to provide a safe and secure workplace. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Risk Management, or related studies preferred.  Or equivalent work experience. 
  • 3+ years of human resources generalist duties or other related business experience preferred. The ideal candidate should be familiar with behavioral interviewing, employee training, employee relations - in a union environment, fair compensation standards, diversity sourcing and management development.
  • Must exhibit sound judgment in decision making and problem solving.
  • Have strong conflict management skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of associates and management.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to lead and influence others. 
  • High degree of initiative; proven team player, excellent customer service skills. 
  • Must be able to manage confidential information.
  •  

Minimal Technical Stills: 

  • Proficient computer skills including PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Online recruiting software experience preferred.
  • Uses calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during normal workday.
  •  

Minimal Physical Requirements: 

  • Workday is fast paced; may require some weekend/nights as business dictates.
  • Sits for extended periods of time.
  • Bending, stooping and twisting are required periodically.
  • Ability to walk long distances for an extended period.
  • Able to work in a warehouse environment with noise, dust, machinery, heat and fast paced.

 

Travel Requirements - Less than 10%

Pay: $80,100.00- $120,200.00 per year
