Accounting Clerk

                                                                        

Base Pay: $41,020.00 annually ($21.00 an hour)               

Employee Type: Full-Time              

Experience: At least 1 year

Location: WorkOne Office, Greenfield, Indiana                           

 

Job Summary

The Accounting Clerk is a responsible position designed to assist the Controller with variety of accounting tasks. The Accounting Clerk may have responsibility for either payroll or non‑payroll accounting functions. 

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Prepares and issues Batch Detail Reports for approval by Controller by reconciling Detail Reports to payment totals for pending checks, issued checks, and ACH transactions.
  • Prepares non-payroll checks and vouchers, automated and manual
  • Secures authorized signatures on official documents and checks
  • Travel to Mayor’s offices to obtain signatures for checks
  • Verifies accuracy of vendor, client and staff checks and processes the payments
  • Processes bank deposits
  • Verifies accuracy of and approves bills for vendor, participant payments and staff, including coding by account number
  • May assist with bank statement reconciliation
  • Performs computer data entry
  • Order supplies for staff
  • Process all supportive service pre-paid cards for clients
  • Approve vouchers for client payments in automated system
  • Receive Cash Requests, document on Journal Entry and post in Fundware
  • Process requests via email for Region 5 to add vendors to automated tracking system

 

Working Conditions

Works most of the time in a well ventilated modern office. Works standard 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  

 

Skill Factors Education

High School Diploma, with additional training in accounting or bookkeeping at an accredited vocational school or college.

 

Experience

One year of related accounting or bookkeeping experience.

                                                

Communication

Written communication skills are required to the degree necessary to understand various forms, documentation, letters, reports and memoranda and to complete, type and file such information. Effective oral communication is essential to communicate with other staff and vendors.

 

 

 

Knowledge

Double entry bookkeeping; federal and state payroll regulations; computerized payroll processes; filing systems; telephone procedures; inventory control methods; Ability to operate a personal computer; typing speed should be 50 WPM; ability to use calculators, copiers,; accuracy with keyboard devices is essential, intermediate mathematics skills are essential. 

 

Effort Factors Physical Demands

Limited to those associated with modern office jobs.  Ability to operate a motor vehicle is desirable but not essential. Near visual acuity is needed to operate a computer and read small print. 

 

Mental Demands

Receives detailed instructions and works under general supervision.  Decision making discretion is limited. Works in a team with other fiscal staff. Problem solving skills are essential.
