Electromagnetic Modeling Internship

Internship Topic: Electromagnetic Modeling of Engineered Semiconductor Substrates

Preferred Background: Electrical engineering, physics, or related fields

Description: Caporus Technologies is funded by the US Dept. of Energy for the development of novel semiconductor substrates. These engineered wafers provide a platform for building a wide variety of semiconductor devices, including RF communication devices, nuclear detectors, and power switching devices, among others. Caporus’ proprietary materials and designs impact the properties of the wafer and devices built upon it.

This internship will focus on electromagnetic modeling of engineered substrates and simple devices. Through comparison of the model with experimental measurement, a tool for material and device design through simulation will be developed. The selected intern will be responsible for learning new simulation software, implementing Caporus’ designs in the CAD environment, and the compilation and analysis of results. Experience with computer aided drawing (CAD) is required. A background in electrical engineering, physics, or related fields is preferred. On-site, hybrid, and remote options available.

DOE defined stipend ($20-30/hr).

DOE stipend for local conference available.
