Kansas Dept of Ag Food Safety Internship

The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) is the nation's first state department of agriculture. The agency is devoted to the total support of agriculture in Kansas. The department works for the entire Kansas agriculture sector, including farmers, ranchers, food establishments and agribusinesses. The department is dedicated to providing support and assistance to make Kansas businesses successful and encouraging more farms, ranches and other agriculture business to expand in or relocate to Kansas.

About the Position:

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Shadowing Field Inspections
  • Observing Grant Reporting Tasks
  • Assisting with Kansas Food Protection Task Force Activities
  • Answering Phones
  • Scanning Documents into a Database
  • Opening Mail
  • A variety of Other Duties

Qualifications:

  • Applicant should be going into their junior or senior year at an accredited college or university pursuing an advanced degree.
  • Public health, food science, hotel and restaurant management or other related majors are preferred (not required).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and online databases.
  • Strong communication ability (oral and written).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills.
