Community Development/Architecture Intern
The Village of Lombard is seeking a Community Development/Architecture Intern. This position will assist in the review of building permit plans, preparation of documents for internal and general public use, conducting field surveys, and special studies. Other support activities related to Community Development operations may be a part of this internship. The position will provide a broad exposure to development codes and an opportunity to understand the entitlement processes. The position requires:
- The ability to effectively write and speak clearly to staff and the general public.
- Appropriate interpersonal skills for business and public contact.
- Competencies in personal computers in a Windows environment and ability to utilize Village software applications.
- The ability to work independently and in the absence of supervision.
The successful candidate will have good communication skills and possess a valid driver’s license. Completion of core coursework toward a degree in architecture, design, construction management or a closely related field is also required. Competencies in building design are a plus.
The Village is seeking help through the Summer of up to 40 hours a week. The hourly salary would be $16.00-$18/hour, based on qualifications. The anticipated start date and work hours can be flexible based upon school schedules.
