Overview: As an Information Technology Intern, you will assist our IT department in various tasks related to hardware, software, networking, and technical support. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic IT environment and develop essential skills for a career in information technology.

Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Support: Provide basic technical assistance to employees, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, installing, and configuring software applications, and resolving user inquiries via email, phone, or in-person.
  2. System Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of computer systems, servers, and network infrastructure. This may include performing routine updates, backups, and system optimizations.
  3. Hardware Setup and Deployment: Assist with the setup, configuration, and deployment of computers, printers, peripherals, and other IT equipment for new hires or office relocations.
  4. Software Installation and Updates: Assist in installing, updating, and configuring software applications on workstations and servers. Ensure software licenses are up-to-date and compliant with company policies.
  5. Network Support: Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting network connectivity issues, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks. Help maintain network security by implementing best practices and assisting with firewall configurations.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of IT assets, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Assist in generating reports on IT metrics, such as help desk ticket trends and system performance.
  7. Project Assistance: Collaborate with IT team members on special projects, such as software upgrades, infrastructure improvements, or security initiatives. Assist in project planning, execution, and documentation as needed.
  8. Training and Knowledge Sharing: Participate in training sessions to enhance technical skills and knowledge of IT systems and procedures. Share acquired knowledge with team members and contribute to the development of IT training materials.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and software applications.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
  • Prior internship or work experience in IT support or a related field is a plus.

Duration: Open to Discussion

Location: Based at our Corporate Office in Hamilton, IN.  Some light travel may be needed for events/project work.
