Mechanic Tier 2 - Kanab, UT

Location:  Kanab, Utah (relocation assistance may be available)

Hiring Range:  This position’s hiring range is anticipated be $22.50 per hour to $26 per hour, depending on experience, plus great benefits.

Interviews: Interviews will occur weekly until the position is filled.

 

Position Summary:  The Mechanic II should be experienced in running day-to-day operations in an auto repair facility, including the opening and closing of work orders, scheduling of work to be performed and inventory control. They should have experience and be comfortable with diagnosing and troubleshooting vehicles and equipment and be able to make the needed repairs with limited supervision. Perform various maintenance, servicing and repairs of all Best Friends vehicles including heavy equipment, golf carts, ATVs, trailers, and other equipment as assigned. Mentors Tier 1 coworker in the performance of duties.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

You are responsible and accountable for the culture you add to your team dynamic
  • Creates, schedules, and closes work orders in a timely manner.
  • Ensures Team lead is aware of parts stocking levels.
  • Inspects, diagnoses, and completes repairs on vehicles and equipment as needed to include tractors, trucks, cars, vans, buses, golf carts and ATVs 
  • Performs maintenance on shop equipment; compressor, lifts etc.
  • Operates, services, cleans, and cares for tools and equipment. Disposes used oils and chemicals in proper receptacles.
  • Trains employees how to properly repair equipment and vehicles within the fleet.
  • Report any damage or abuse of vehicles to Team Lead.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records.
  • Maintain a safe workplace valuing and modeling safe work practices and communicating about unsafe practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.                                                                                 

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Must have five or more years of mechanic experience, including diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures using an automotive diagnostic computer along with online computer repair software.
  • It is preferred that candidate has three or more active ASE certifications in job specific fields.
  • Must have your own tools, toolbox and equipment needed to perform all day-to-day repairs.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, and practices used in the automotive industry.
  • Must have required licenses to operate and service equipment, tools, vehicles, and maintenance equipment skillfully and safely.
  • Be able to run the auto shop in the team lead’s absence including scheduling of work, ordering of inventory, and updating of vehicle repair records.
  • Work with a positive outlook: upbeat, energetic, and takes initiative.
  • Willing and able to learn on the job.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Work indoors and outdoors with the ability to perform physical work requiring coordination, agility, strength, and stamina.
  • Work includes heavy lifting (typically up to 80 pounds).
  • Prolonged periods of standing; stooping, reaching, crawling, and climbing; manual dexterity.
  • Must have held a valid driver's license for at least 3 years, ability to qualify to be added to Best Friends insurance, ability to travel, including overnight stays, when needed. 
  • Work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. 
  • Daily exposure to dogs, cats and other animals of all sizes, temperaments, and medical status.
