Communications Internship - Summer 2024

General Summary:

FHLB Cincinnati is looking for an Communications Intern to join our team. The Communications Intern will support Bank’s communications efforts through copywriting, editing, design, project management, photography and administrative management. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works in coordination with the Communications Manager to complete communications projects that may include the creation of fliers, postcards, press releases, web materials, advertisements and other items as needed.

 

  • Uses Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to complete graphic design projects.

 

  • Write copy as needed for FHLB internal publications.

 

  • Travels locally when available to photograph Housing and Community Investment events or internal volunteer opportunities.

 

  • Uses stories from funded housing programs to develop articles, conducting interviews as needed.

 

  • Provides branding and editing support throughout the Bank in support of communications efforts including writing, designing and editing PowerPoints, Adobe PDFs, and other external facing documents.

 

  • Assists with FHLB website management process.

 

  • Assists with other related responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to graphic design, videography, copywriting, editing and administrative support.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Completed or working toward a college degree (junior level and up), preferably in a related field (e.g., marketing/communications, advertising, public relations or business)

 

  • Willingness to speak in public in front of small groups.

 

  • Excellent written, oral communication, proofreading and editing skills.

 

  • Self-starter, good time management skills and creative, with ability to communicate in a professional manner and independently manage projects with tight deadlines to completion.

 

  • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and Constant Contact highly desired.

 

  • Willingness to learn the banking industry.

Working Conditions:

Requires frequent interaction with website, intranet, and social media postings. Flexibility to photograph events outside the Bank, occasionally outside normal business hours locally.
