Summer Recreation Therapy Internship

SEEKING BOTH MALE & FEMALE CANDIDATES!

This internship will be in two locations: Glendale, AZ & Happy Jack, AZ

  • Day camps in Glendale, AZ (May-June)
    • Room & board not provided for day camp programs in Glendale, AZ
  • Overnight camps in Happy Jack, AZ (June-August)
    • Room & board provided during overnight camps in Happy Jack, AZ

Intern Qualifications:

  • Ability to instruct or lead individuals or groups in outdoor recreation activities/programs.
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of the programs preferred
  • Ability to multi task

  • Good physical condition

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Current First Aid and CPR

  • Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background Check

Recreation Therapy Intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Assess program and camper needs for programming.
  • Plan, adapt and assist in facilitating purposeful programming.
  • Assist in programming and safety interventions around therapeutic horseback riding.
  • Assist in program evaluation alongside CTRS.
  • Ensure safety and well-being of campers within a camp setting.
  • Supervision of remote camp tents and campers.
  • Supervision of campers during nature excursions and adaptive recreation outings.
  • Participate in creating a safe, positive environment for campers and staff.
  • Comply and uphold organizational policies and procedures.
  • Complete assignments as given by CTRS supervisor.
