eMedia, Aviation Writer
Summary:
The eMedia Aviation Writer creates a high volume of general aviation digital journalism for all AOPA media channels - including online, magazines, video, audio, and social media. The ideal candidate can report and write accurate, engaging stories in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and juggle multiple deadlines, ranging from daily to monthly; easily adapt to a changing media landscape; and produce the right content for the right medium.
Responsibilities:
- Report on breaking aviation and industry news for online, social media, and print consumption.
- Create fun, inspirational, and educational content about the people, aircraft, and airports that make general aviation so appealing to members.
- Deepen our connection with members through outstanding and engaging stories for AOPA’s newsletters and magazines.
- Reach the next generation of pilots by utilizing the latest media trends and practices, including social media and action cameras.
- Cover aviation events, remotely or in person, as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required. Major in English or journalism preferred.
- Minimum of three years of multi-channel media experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work on deadline.
- Ability to learn and work in content management systems.
Preferred Experience
- Private pilot certificate.
- Aviation experience, including knowledge about using general aviation aircraft on personal and business missions.
