Events Manager


 

Event Sales Manager


 

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Private Events Manager is responsible for driving revenue through proactive and reactive sales efforts for their respective locations. These efforts include all steps of a successful private event, including guest communication, contract planning and day-of event execution. The Private Events Manager will be responsible for meeting and exceeding sales goals as well as building relationships with new and existing clients. This person will interact closely with individuals in every department and at all levels throughout The Cake Bake Shop.


 

Core Objectives of the Role (this list is not all inclusive) :

  • Leads and manages the private event sales department
  • Displays leadership that embraces the culture and character of the establishment through his/her own personal and professional conduct
  • Responsible for partnering with the Director of Operations to create sales opportunities, including community exposure, cold calling and face-to-face marketing
  • Assists in developing, planning and executing private events with their team
  • Responsible for generating private event sales, first proactively and second organically through relationship building and referrals 
  • Accomplishes sales objectives through a sales plan and reports earnings on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis
  • Continually cultivates relationships with past, current and potential clients
  • Actively solicits local sales opportunities with hotels and other businesses that may utilize the services of The Cake Bake Shop or it’s facilities 
  • Responsible for effective contract management through Tripleseat 
  • Leads weekly meetings with Savory, Production and FOH Management to review upcoming 2 weeks of business, along with any other pertinent information
  • Assumes responsibility for event execution by communicating all requests of the guest to FOH Management and the service team in an effective and timely manner
  • Ensures all required event elements are scheduled, ordered, and communicated with the appropriate departments
  • Effectively time manages to balance between account maintenance and prospecting for new business
  • Responsible for improving private event revenue from the prior year
  • Effectively cross-sells through all locations (when applicable) to maximize company revenue
  • Keeps up on industry trends and seeks creative ways to infiltrate new markets/accounts
  • Acts as conduit between all the departments within the organization
  • Maintains accurate and thorough notes for all accounts, adhering to guidelines of the BEO and the guest’s expectations, while maintaining Brand/Service Standards
  • Reviews and updates menus, upgrades and add ons to increase revenue
  • Creates appropriate sales collateral and internal tools for the department
  • Conducts property tours and exposes guests to the facility and our services
  • Accurately forecasts individual booking revenues and cancellations, tracking consumption on all bookings
  • Adheres to established guidelines as laid out by the organization and the Director of Operations
  • Proactively develops plans for new sales building opportunities and presents these items to the Director of Operations, the Vice President of Operations and the President/Owner for review and approval
  • Executes proper Cake Bake Shop standards with client relations, including timeliness 
  • Leads by example, with first-hand knowledge of their department
  • Must be able to work independently and in a group setting
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follows up to ensure guest satisfaction

Qualifications:


 

  • Private event management experience preferred 
  • 1 year of food and beverage experience in a polished dining environment
  • Must keep a professional appearance, adhering to Cake Bake Shop uniform guidelines and with impeccable hygiene
  • Strong sales and negotiating abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills combined with outstanding leadership, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree in event planning or related field is a plus
  • Able to adhere to a 45-hour work week with availability in the mornings or evenings, weekdays, weekends and holidays (if necessary)
