Background and Recruitment Analyst/Consultant, DOJ Human Resources

Are you an HR professional with the following skills

The ability to effectively deliver instructions, explain processes and requirements, and understand the rationale and necessity of following processes and procedures.

The ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines is essential.

Accuracy and attention to detail are a must.

A general understanding of the Department of Justice, particularly the State  Crime Laboratory.

The position must be well-organized, detail-orientated, and equally effective in working independently or collaboratively.

Ability to interpret and apply screening measures for applicants using a consistent method that can withstand an audit.


Background Check Oversight and Management
Working closely with the State Crime Laboratory Administrative Operations Division and the Department of Justice Human Resources staff and other DOJ management team members

 

  • Create and manage the criminal background check process for the Crime Lab by supervising staff contracted to complete criminal history checks. Discretion and the ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality.
  • Ensure the integrity and audit worthiness of background checks performed for various other positions when required by policy, which may be performed by a third-party agency or with assistance from the State Bureau of Investigation. This position would ensure that the vendors process the records promptly, consistent with the service level agreement.
  • Development of reports to track the volume and turnaround time of the background checks.

Systems Administrator

  • Manage, problem-solve, and troubleshoot the DOJ-specific onboarding/offboarding (OBOB) platform.
  • Act as a liaison to the agency IT department to perform testing and develop tech solutions to ensure compliance and improve timelines
  • Responsible for developing and delivering OTJ training within the HR team to ensure that this skillset is shared appropriately and securely

Recruitment Development

  • Responsible for developing and growing the outreach and recruitment resources for the Lab
  • Working with recruitment committee members to identify and reach new applicant sources and increase diversity among the applicant pools.
  • This position may also provide support for the recruitment lifecycle when needed. This may involve drafting postings, approving requisitions, and screening postings for Crime Lab-specific positions in the State’s Application Tracking System, NeoGov.
  • This position may also screen applicants for Crime Lab vacancies

Other duties and projects
This position will also help support existing recruitment efforts, including but not limited to:

  • Developing, implementing, and managing the lab’s participation at job fairs, colleges, universities, etc.
  • Assessing the ROI for the events and reporting on recommended changes.
  • Creating other ideas to help recruit and retain scientists to the State Crime Laboratory.
  • Partnering with the legal team to help grow the existing internship program to include divisions outside of legal.
