This is a developmental position within the Office of Administration. The position is designed to provide interns with challenging assignments that will broaden their perspectives on issues facing the government and prepare them for future positions throughout the government.

As a Program Analyst Pathways Student Intern, you will:

  • Help FHWA customers throughout the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request process, to ensure compliance with all FOIA-related issues and requirements. These tasks will include: 
    • As part of the FOIA Requester Service Center, serves as a point of contact for the public requester community, explains FHWA’s procedures for submitting proper FOIA requests, and coordinates with processing offices to provide requesters status updates.
    • Communicate with program/division offices as needed to determine assignment of requests, actively participates in the administrative aspects of the FOIA office.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of administrative practices and procedures, channels of communication, routing of correspondence, filing and storage of files and records to respond to requests for information – also has excellent written and oral skills.
