NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Village of Bedford Park, Illinois, a home rule community, is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic for the Bedford Park Fire Department to establish an Eligibility Roster.

Each applicant must return the fully completed application, along with all required supporting documents no later than 15:00 hours on November 29, 2023. No applications will be accepted after this date and time. Applications that are not complete or do not have all supporting documents will be disqualified.

MIMIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Age: At least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age (unless exempted by statute).
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen.
Driver's license: Must have a valid driver's license.
Education: Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate.
Character: No felony convictions and be of good character.
Residency: Must be a resident of the State of Illinois within 6 months of hiring.
EMS: IDPH licensed (or national registry) Paramedic or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hiring.
Condition of employment: Candidates not currently certified as a firefighter will be sent and must successfully pass the basic operations firefighter academy.
Physical: Candidate Physical Ability Test and Ladder Climb required by date of hire. 

There will be two written test dates, each including a mandatory orientation meeting and written test:

Option #1

Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 5:30 PM

OR

Option #2

Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 8:30 AM

FAILURE TO ATTEND EITHER ORIENTATION SESSION WILL DISQUALIFY THE CANDIDATE FROM FURTHER CONSIDERATION.

The written test will begin promptly after the Orientation.

Oral interviews will be held on:

If the number of applicants exceeds the seating capacity of the fire department facility, applicants will be notified by US mail and electronic mail (e-mail) of any change in venue.
