Analyst, Leadership and Development Rotational Program

The Fortna Leadership and Development Rotation (LADR) Program is a 1-year, rotational program committed to the accelerated development of entry-level Professional Services and Engineering talent with a passion for technology, automation, and professional services coupled with a drive for exceptional client service. Through intense training and a variety of business-critical assignments, technical and business skills are developed. LADR graduates have the technical and business foundation to make innovative contributions that help our clients be successful in a dynamic world. The program consists of the following tracks: Project Management, Consulting, Engineering, Electrical Controls Engineering, Client Support, Maintenance and Software Development. Program members are full-time Fortna Associates and work in rotational assignments to accelerate their development and assimilation into the business.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

LADR program members at Fortna experience technically challenging rotations that are driven by opportunities to solve our clients’ toughest distribution problems.

 

Project Management Track

  • Assisting in the development of project plans, project schedules, project organization plans and project charters.
  • Supporting the delivery of a project in accordance with the project business plan and supporting the financial management and analysis of projects including budgets, cash flow, expenses, and staffing.
  • Writing and delivering high quality documentation and analysis and fostering positive communication between internal teams, building general contractors, city/county permitting and inspection officials, subcontractors, and the client.

 

Consulting Track

  • Responsible for data gathering, analysis, research, knowledge capture, and data modeling using Fortna’s proprietary tools and package tools for financial and operational modeling, supporting delivery of solutions including business process redesign, distribution center (DC) design and organizational design.
  • Writing and delivering high quality documentation and analysis and developing specific technical expertise, e.g., network modeling, DC design, operations implementation, etc.

 

Engineering Track

  • Assisting in the development of mechanical and electrical concept and detailed design packages, equipment RFPs & Purchase Order requisitions.
  • Attending training to develop an understanding of material handling equipment, application, and Fortna design tooling and processes.
  • Supporting on-site machine control commissioning and testing, e.g. I/O checkout, functional testing, equipment fault diagnosis.

 

Electrical Controls Engineering Track

  • Assisting in the development of electrical concepts, control panel fabrication, installation, and detailed design packages, equipment RFPs & Purchase Order requisitions.
  • Learning Fortna Realtime Controls WCS software configuration, development, and process requirements
  • Participating in on-site machine control deployment, commissioning, and testing, e.g. I/O checkout, functional testing, equipment fault diagnosis.

 

Client Support Track

  • Assisting in system fault diagnosis, support, and remedy via remote support center (on site escalation as required) including but not limited to: Electrical circuit troubleshooting; FRC WCS machine control troubleshooting; Software system routing and decision-making troubleshooting
  • Supporting Client system health check activities including data management and event log archiving, root cause analysis development and documentation
  • Attending training to develop an understanding of material handling equipment, application, and machine control functionality.

Maintenance Track

  • Assisting with on-site resident maintenance, e.g., troubling shooting, root cause analysis, spare parts site strategy, and support with escalations
  • Assist with on-site client health checks, e.g., mechanical inspections & client facing documentation
  • Attend original equipment manufacturer training rotations: TGW, Hytrol, Wynright, & MHS

Software Development Track

  • Designing and developing the Fortna Warehouse Execution System (WES)
  • Assisting software QA and infrastructure engineers in qualifying, deploying and packaging WES applications and libraries
  • Developing and maintaining high quality project and software design documentation.
  • Traveling to Client sites to assist the software services implementation engineers in qualifying the WES installation on-site.

Parcel Rotation

Project Management

  • Assisting in the development of project plans, project schedules, project organization plans and project charters

Estimation

  • Assist in data mining and compiling results into meaningful statistics and charts and developing metrics for comparison purposes
  • Identifying, developing and creating opportunities for process and system improvements to maximize accuracy and efficiency
  • Supporting tool development to optimize standard costs and estimating practices

Equipment Rotation

Supply Chain

  • Apply statistical methods and Lean principles to develop and improve manufacturing processes, staffing requirements, and production standards.
  • Determine manufacturing methods and times for parts & assemblies and build production routers using the company’s MRP system.
  • Design layouts of equipment, materials, and workspace to maximize productivity.

Manufacturing

  • Communicate and collaborate with product design engineers with regards to manufacturability of parts & assemblies.
  • Provides technical support and information to manufacturing personnel
  • Assists in preparing project records and documentation such as test plans, test reports, trip reports, corrective action reports, meeting agendas, meeting notes, etc.

Engineering

  • Assisting in the development of mechanical and electrical concept and detailed design packages, equipment RFPs & Purchase Order requisitions
  • Attending training to develop an understanding of material handling equipment, application, and MHS | Fortna design tooling and processes
  • Supporting on-site machine control commissioning and testing, e.g. I/O checkout, functional testing, equipment fault diagnosis

All Tracks

  • Working within and eventually leading small teams during assignments.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with evidence of strong performance in supply chain, business, or engineering curricula
  • Excellent analytical and research skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work effectively on a team and support high levels of performance
  • Ability to develop structured problem-solving skills
  • High level comprehension of financial analysis
  • Ability to utilize good facilitation skills
  • Ability to develop research skills
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Desire to continually add value to and ensure accuracy and quality in all work performed
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally approximately 50% of the time

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience within AutoCAD product environment beneficial (Engineering Tracks)
  • Exposure to PLC type machine control beneficial (Engineering Tracks)
