Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) External Engagement and Communication group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as an Intellectual Property Licensing Specialist.
This is a 2-year Project Hire position.
Our team works an on-site 9x80 schedule located at our Idaho Falls EROB facility with every other Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
- This position manages licensing practices and processes for technology transfer, applying company policies and procedures to resolve issues associated with licensing INL’s intellectual property, under training and direction of more senior licensing specialists.
- Work under guidance to participate in intellectual property management tasks such as organizing decisions and committees, gradually gaining independence.;
- Ensure all agreements are executed professionally and in line with the standards set by the Director of Technology Deployment.
- Handle the licensing of routine, non-negotiable agreements, such as non-exclusive software licenses under direction.
- Assist in handling practices for income-sharing agreements, as well as copyright and software licenses, including open source software licenses.
- Support the updating and accuracy of the "IP Manager" database, responding to DOE and INL information requests related to licensing with administrative assistance.
- Manages with innovation and commercialization initiatives, and technical staff in support of INL’s broad technology deployment mission;
- Response to request in handling TD’s IP software management tools (including innovation intake and management systems).
- Handle proposal development and submission for technology transfer related activities.
- The duties above require use and application of licensing standards and principles, and techniques to resolve issues associated with intellectual property and processing licenses.
- This position is expected to resolve issues as they arise surrounding a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity when dealing with routine licensing.
- This position must also build and maintain stable working relationships internally.
- The work of this position will be supervised, but is expected to follow defined processes.
- Duties should be performed with minimal oversight problems within defined scope, but working directly and under the direction of INL's commercialization managers, more senior licensing specialists and legal experts, especially when complex issues arise out of the defined scope.
- This position requires excellent customer relationship skills and is expected to frequently interact with immediate supervisor and/or other professionals in the section or group.
- This position requires excellent writing skills and attention to detail.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
PR0100-Level 1: Bachelors Degree in business or related field.
Prefer exposure to:
- legal environments, agreements, legal contract environments.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L"clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

PR0100-Level 1-Salary Grade 170 ($55,656 - $89,112)
