JCES (Juvenile Community Enrichment Services) Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, sociology, social work, criminology, political science, psychology, a closely related human service field OR equivalent experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience can be substituted for degree requirements. Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working with at-risk youth or multi-problem families. Direct work experience with juveniles or young adults (in probation, detention, courts, social service, or a rehabilitation field, facility, or related area) is required. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of the juvenile justice and juvenile court systems; experience with OYAS and Epics preferred. Strong verbal, written, and computer skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Juvenile Community Enrichment Supervisor is responsible for managing the unit operations through training, conflict resolution, performance evaluations, implementation of disciplinary actions to ensure the quality and productivity of the JCES staff. The JCES Supervisor is to work collaboratively with Court personnel, internal and external stakeholders, and community partners to achieve the Vision and Mission of the Juvenile Community Enrichment Services department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervises unit operations, including work schedules, payroll, assigning and managing the workload (supervision and electronic monitoring), and maintaining statistical records and reports.
2. Actively participates in the selection and performance management process, including evaluating performance, identifying goals and objectives, recognizing staff achievements, and coaching staff to overcome performance or skill deficiencies.
3. Provides consultation to JCES Specialists regarding options and case planning; may review/approve options for judicial/non-judicial action; may coordinate case staffing among staff, service providers, and other agencies.
4. Ensures unit compliance with Juvenile Court policies and procedures, Department policies and procedures, and standards.
5. Maintains a positive work environment that is responsive to the needs of Court personnel, youth, families, and community partners.
6. Participates in regular unit, departmental staff, and supervisor meetings.
7. Evaluate and recommend changes in policies, procedures, and operations; advise JCES Specialists and other staff regarding Court and Department policies.
8. Positively represents the Court and Department regarding case handling, local practices and procedures, and inter-agency activities.
9. Manages sex offender registrations and tier status functions of JSO-designated youth in Franklin County.
10. Coordinate the delivery of out-of-state and out-of-county youth to and from Franklin County.
11. Participates in planning, organizing, and training with policies, procedures, goals, and objectives to ensure consistency and accurate delivery to JCES staff.
12. Provides strong leadership to fully implement the Vision, Mission, and Core Principles and Values of the JCES department.
13. May carry a reduced caseload and provide the department with coverage and assistance as needed.
14. Performs other related duties as assigned.
