Job Summary

 

Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is seeking Data Science students for a paid Data Analytics Internship. Our 2024 Intern class will begin work in our Monroeville, Pennsylvania, office in May of 2024, working full-time (40 hours/week) through August of 2024.

 

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with the structuring and analysis of existing and future data for both technical (analyzing everything from system development concepts through the end-of-life system support) and business (business and logistics data analysis) data sets.
  • Interfacing with data owners to assist in scoping problems and consulting on solutions.
  • Working with data engineers to build out data infrastructure.
  • Helping grow a culture focused on data analytics.
  • Staying current on data science trends and techniques.
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Close Mentoring - You will be assigned a unique sponsor for the duration of your BPMI experience. As an experienced professional in your field, your sponsor will provide guidance as you perform day-to-day efforts, while adding a more in-depth perspective of how the various assignments fit into the overall business. Along with your manager, a sponsor also provides general support and training on BPMI’s business and operations.
  • Training - You will be provided with learning opportunities across various procurement functions such as procurement planning, budgeting, negotiating, developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships, and contract management.
  • Shipyard Tour - Our Interns and co-ops visit Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia for a one-day shipyard tour over the summer session. This unique and exciting opportunity allows you to see and potentially tour aircraft carriers, submarines, servicing facilities, and other areas of interest. You will gain a better appreciation of the important work BPMI does, and the key role the Navy plays in protecting the interests of the United States of America.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a Data Science, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Engineering or related undergraduate degree program from an accredited college or university with 6 semesters (~ 90 credits) completed by May 2024.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred for interns and co-ops.
  • Requires a security clearance, however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.

 

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Ability to articulate basic Data Science knowledge. 
  • Good oral and writing skills strongly preferred.
