Information Technology Internship

General Description:  Position is responsible for operational support of the IT network, server and desktop environment and is expected to provide entry-level internal consulting and leadership on technical issues and projects.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications.
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.
  • Advise staff face-to-face, via email, or over the telephone to assist in system set up or to resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems.
  • Develop procedural documentation and relevant reports.
  • Follow diagrams and written instructions to resolve known issues.
  • Support the roll-out of new applications.
  • Set up new users’ accounts and profiles.
  • Respond within agreed time limits to requests for assistance. 
  • Prioritize and manage tasks with the guidance of the IT team.
  • Test and evaluate new technology
  • Recognize threats by identifying abnormalities and advising the IT team.
  • Monitor security violations and inefficiencies via basic audit practices.
  • Maintain documentation such as SOP’s and work logs to departmental standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, qualifications and experience:

  • Currently working toward a degree in IT or related field.
  • Microsoft operating systems and applications knowledge preferred.
  • Cisco networking and firewall knowledge preferred. 
  • VMWare knowledge preferred.
  • ITIL or SDLC knowledge preferred.
  • This position requires occasional travel to satellite offices.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends when upgrades or projects require.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

HSEC Accountabilities:

  • Identify hazards, unsafe actions, and conditions that could result in damage to property, injury, impacts to the environment, and the community

  • Report, as soon as practicable to their Manager any situations where HSEC requirements are not being conformed to within their work area
  • Avoid endangerment to any other person through any act or omission
  • Only use equipment you are trained to use and operate the equipment in a way that is safe, protects the environment and doesn’t cause undue community impacts. 
  • Participate in HSEC training provided to them
  • Report all incidents; including but not limited to injuries, near miss, community interactions and impacts, environmental impacts, spills, unsafe work practices, etc.
