Summer 2024 Intern - Investment, Quant
Position Overview
RGA is seeking an intern for the Investment Quant Analysis team. The Investment Quant Analysis team provides quantitative analyses to support investment decisions. Such quantitative analyses span across stress scenario modeling and analysis, asset allocation modeling, asset cashflow projection, credit default and credit risk capital, and relative value analysis.
Responsibilities
As an intern with the Investment Quant Analysis team, you will work under the direction and guidance of a senior member of the team, gain exposure to quant models, processes, projects that are critical to investment decision making, and contribute to their continued development and enhancement. You may be tasked with:
- Gathering and extrapolating asset market data that serve as fundamental inputs into quant modeling
- Supporting and contributing to the development and enhancement of modeling capabilities
- Improving modeling processes through process automation by leveraging your programming skills
- Helping with documentation of the modeling assumptions and procedures
- Work on other cross-functional projects as time permits
Requirements
- Enrolled in a PhD program in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, or a similar quantitative major. Prior work experience in investment or finance is not required. Preference will be given to candidates who can work around 20 hours per week
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required
- The most successful interns are creative self-starters who adapt well to change and can think out of the box
- Solid verbal and written communication skills are necessary
- Advanced skills in the following applications and/or programming languages are a plus:
- MS Office (Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
- VBA, Python, SQL, Java, C++, R
