Summer 2024 Intern - Investment, Risk

Position Overview

Investment Risk Management Team

The Investment Risk Management team provides risk reporting/analyses to support investment decisions. Such risk reporting/analyses span across portfolios, asset classes, sectors, businesses, entities. Additionally, the team provides asset valuation support, which is critical to financial reporting and investment performance measurement, across all the invested assets.

Responsibilities

As an intern with the Investment Risk Management team, you will work under the direction and guidance of a senior member of the team, gain exposure to risk reporting and/or asset valuation tools, processes, projects that are critical to investment decision making, and contribute to their continued development and enhancement. You may be tasked with:

  • Gathering, extrapolating, analyzing investment or valuation data that serve as fundamental inputs into risk reporting or asset valuation
  • Supporting and contributing to the development and enhancement of investment risk reporting and/or asset valuation tools or processes
  • Improving risk reporting and/or asset valuation processes through process automation by leveraging your programming skills
  • Creating new reports to support risk monitoring/analyses and/or asset valuation
  • Helping with process documentation
  • Work on other cross-functional projects as time permits

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a PhD or Master program in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, finance, business or a similar analytical major. Prior work experience in investment or finance is not required. Preference will be given to candidates who can work 20 or more hours per week
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required
  • The most successful interns are creative self-starters who adapt well to change and can think out of the box
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills are necessary
  • Advanced skills in the following applications and/or programming languages are a plus:
    • MS Office (Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
    • VBA, Python, SQL, Java, C++, R
