Summer 2024 Intern - Investments, Data and Systems

Position Overview

Internship Overview

Internships give RGA Investments an opportunity to identify candidates to meet the future needs of our growing department while giving our interns valuable experience to jump start successful careers. As an Investment Data and Systems intern, you will participate in data driven initiatives establishing data requirements and processes related to management of investment market data for downstream use. This internship will test your mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills and will provide experience with numerous cutting edge tools such as BlackRock’s Aladdin, Bloomberg, Alteryx, Python, Tableau, SQL, RPA and QuantLib.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and implement models and tools under the guidance of experienced teammates, leveraging your skillsets and knowledge to add value to RGA
  • Build automated processes to improve the efficiency of recurring tasks
  • Use proprietary systems, purpose-built to support RGA’s innovative culture, to retrieve data and perform risk analysis
  • Enhance reporting to business lines that engage in derivative activity
  • Experience client relationship management, using software to track vendors, contracts, and visit summaries
  • Improve upon documentation such as Investments Data Dictionary, to better describe the source and use of data for all of RGA Investments

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time college student at the Junior, Senior or Graduate level pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Computer Science (or similar computer programming designation), or related degree program at an accredited university
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required
  • The most successful interns are creative self-starters who adapt well to change
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills are necessary
  • Technology savvy, programming and process improvement/automation skills
  • Advanced skills in the following applications and/or programming languages are a plus:
    • MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
    • SQL, Java, C++, R, Python, VBA
