Production Planner

The Planner will establish the daily production schedules to achieve customer demand levels and work closely with material buyers to monitor the movement of material through the production cycle and prioritize key components by work center. This role will prioritize and expedite orders through production as required. The Planner will work with customers and customer service to provide delivery updates and manage priorities.

 

Scope/Supervision and Interaction:
Position will report to the Location Materials/Planning Manager and interact intra-divisionally with materials planning, production planning, and operations.


Essential Functions:

Determines production priorities by utilizing Division scheduling tools and customer requirements. Create short term production schedule at item level considering constraints and monitors operations adherence to the plan.  Performs capacity and material availability analysis to assist with labor and overtime decisions.

 

Coordinates cross-functional activities with Material Planning, Manufacturing, Product Sales, and Shipping/Receiving to ensure a smooth flow of materials through the production process and consistent information regarding status and priorities.  Communicates with customer service, customers, and plant regarding status of schedule attainment.

 

Participate in the S&OP process to drive alignment on the supply plan required to achieve the demand plan. Identify any supply risks and recommend actions to mitigate. 

 

Applies continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems. Evaluates, recommends, and implements changes to the overall planning process consistent with continuous improvement goals.  May lead or be assigned to a special project team or Kaizen event.

 

Monitor customer on time delivery and Planner Service Index goals to plan. Identify improvement actions and drive implementation. Monitor supporting process metrics as appropriate.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 to 3 years experience in inventory and production control.


4 year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management required with certification in supply chain management preferred.


Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.

Must have intermediate to advanced computer skills, especially Excel, and be able to understand electronic processing, as well as run data analysis and make recommendations.


Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.


Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices.
