Treasury and Balance Sheets Strategies Rotational Program

Job Title: Treasury & Balance Sheet Strategies Graduate Rotational Program 

Location: Boston, MA; Providence, RI 

Responsibilities 

The Treasury and Balance Sheet Strategies Graduate Rotational Program is critical within the Treasury Department for encouraging versatile, graduate students who seek to be future leaders. You'll accelerate the development of analytical, communication, and project management skills as well as gain foundational financial analysis skills through on-the-job training and assigned project work.  This is an 18-month, full-time program that consists of a robust onboarding, on-the-job training, mentorship, and an opportunity to complete three 6-month rotational assignments through various Treasury teams.  You will learn the corporate Treasury function at Citizens Bank as well as gain insight into the inner workings of a large financial institution. You’ll connect with senior leaders and develop transferable skills.  Crafted for final-year graduate students, this program is a phenomenal way to gain experience within a specific Treasury area while also getting additional exposure to multiple Treasury functions. You may be assigned to any of the following Treasury-related areas for rotations:

  • Funding & Liquidity
  • Asset/Liability Management
  • Capital Markets, Treasury Investments, and Hedging
  • Balance Sheet Optimzation
  • Deposit Strategy
  • Capital Strategy & Analytics

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining a model (or models) that describes the projected balance and interest income/expense for one or more product portfolios.
  • Assisting in the execution of a range of transactions to handle interest rate risk.
  • Partnering with the Funding & Liquidity team to handle secured and unsecured funding sources and develop and implement efficient strategies.
  • Leading analytical projects within the Deposit Strategy team related to the relative costs of the bank's deposit franchise relative to wholesale funding alternatives as well as against peers.
  • Reporting financials that provide a clearer understanding of the impacts of and return for various balance sheet initiatives.

Required Qualifications 

  • Ability to work under pressure with efficiency and accuracy
  • Outstanding written and oral presentation skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of relevant platforms (Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, etc) helpful
  • Demonstrable experience in project management, financial analysis, and relationship building

Education and Certifications

  • Candidate for a master’s degree in Economics, Math, Finance, or Business administration with anticipated graduation in May/June 2024
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5

CFA Charterholder, or progress towards, highly preferred
