Process & Controls Engineering Intern or Co-Op

We are a global chemical company and one of the nation's leading manufacturers of agricultural products. Our Hannibal plant is built to manufacture high-quality products in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner. We occasionally have the need for contingent labor, and that's where you come in. This is a paid, full-time, temporary position. If chosen, you will report to a manager/mentor who will provide you with oversight and details of your assignments.
The scope of assignments for this role will vary, but will likely include: 
Potential large projects: 
- Continue work on the sitewide alarm management initiative. 
- Continue work on overfill protection initiative. 
- Work with team on creating a master interlock database.  
Potential smaller projects: 
  • Assist with commissioning the Cyclization Fractionation project. 
  • Assist with detail design of the Mother Liquor Recovery project.  
The co-op / intern will be working alongside professional engineers and designers, gaining exposure to common process control engineering tasks like: 
  • Chemical process design (line sizing, mass balance calculations etc.) 
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting process issues via trends and other means 
  • Control system programming 
  • Developing and maintaining site control system documentation  
  • Hardware life-cycle evaluation and management 
  • Network evaluation, mapping, and documentation 
  • Pulling reports and sharing with stakeholders 
  • Interfacing with production unit engineers and other stakeholders 
  • Participating in meetings 
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of chemical processes and understands fundamental process concepts. Familiar with process related drawings (PFDs, P&IDs) and can perform basic process calculations.  
Working programming knowledge (C/C++, MS Visual Studio, Python or similar). Understands digital logic functions (AND, OR, XOR, NOT etc.). Familiarity with control system programming languages like Function Block Diagrams, Structured Text, Sequential Flow Charts, Ladder Logic, and Instruction Lists is a plus. 
Preferred knowledge of databases, networks, MS Office (Excel especially)
This job pays an hourly wage (depending on experience) for a 40-hour week, plus an additional housing stipend for each month. This job may last between 3-9 months depending on your availability.
