
Engineering Intern (Civil/Enviromental)

We are seeking an Engineering Intern to join our Oklahoma City team for an innovative water distribution engineering study focused on water quality throughout a large distribution system. This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, field data, and chemical dosing for a corrosion study pilot plant located at the Draper Water Treatment Plant in the southeast Oklahoma City area. This position may also assist with other ongoing studies at Draper WTP, including filtration assessments. This position is to be filled IMMEDIATELY and will continue through May 2024, with possible extension.
Responsibilities
- Participate in field activities such as site investigations, water quality testing, and pilot plant operations.
- Run and maintain multiple pipe-loop skid at Draper WTP. Duties consist of collecting water samples, performing various tests, chemical dosing, data collection and observing mechanical operations.
- This is an estimated commitment of 12-18 hours per week with at least three trips each week to the Draper WTP.
- Travel within the Oklahoma City area will be required. The estimated distance from the OU Campus to Draper WTP is 13 miles. Applicants must provide their own transportation.
- Assist with sample preparation for analysis and/or shipping to other laboratories.
- Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and other electronic deliverables.
- Maintain accurate and complete data entry logs and perform data analysis.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Enrolled or completed junior year of college.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and/or coursework in water/wastewater treatment and conveyance.
- Experience with technical laboratory equipment and tools.
- Previous related internship experience a plus, but not required.
- Licensed as an Engineer Intern (EI), or scheduled to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Experience using drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, or Sketch Up.
