Office Program Manager

Introduction
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or Agency) is the regulatory, scientific, public health and consumer protection agency responsible for ensuring all human and animal drugs, medical devices, cosmetics, foods, food additives, drugs and medicated feeds for food producing animals, tobacco and radiation emitting devices safe, and effective.
The Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) is a Center within FDA that regulates biological products for human use under applicable federal laws, including the Public Health Service Act and the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. CBER’s mission is to protect and enhance the public health through the regulation of biological and related products including blood, vaccines, allergenics, tissues, and cellular and gene therapies. CBER protects and advances the public health by ensuring that biological products are safe, effective, and available to those who need them. CBER also provides the public with information to promote the safe and appropriate use of biological products.
The Office of Vaccines Research and Review (OVRR) protects and enhances public health by assuring those available vaccines, allergenic extracts, and related product are safe and effective.

Duties/Responsibilities
The Office Program Manager reports to and works with the Associate Director of Office Regulatory Initiatives (ADORI) and provides full programmatic and project management support for special office-wide program plans and initiatives, including vaccine workshops, advisory committee meetings, and other projects as needed. The incumbent anticipates the OVRR Office Director’s (OD's) needs for materials and takes initial step to ensure their development by the OVRR IOD and/or appropriate OVRR divisions, branches, and labs.
Specifically, the Office Program Manager will:
  • Fulfill urgent and/or important programmatic and project management tasks at the request of and on the behalf of the OVRR OD and IOD.
  • Provide analytical support on issues such as workforce planning, assist in coordinating workforce plans and compilation of data, and conduct assessments of potential workforce issues.
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing OVRR OD communications and action documents to ensure that responses are prepared, and deadlines are met. This includes reviewing correspondence prepared for the OVRR OD's signature for readiness, ensuring proper coordination and compliance with the OVRR IOD and OD viewpoints, and composing memoranda and letters in accord with the OD’s directions.
  • Manage the routine (weekly and monthly) OVRR IOD and OVRR leadership team meetings, including agenda setting, capturing, and distributing meeting summaries and actions/decisions/issues (ADI), and maintain and follows-up on Risks, Actions, Issues and Decision (RAID) log items.
  • Manage special crosscutting initiatives and task force groups to accomplish programmatic goals.
