Technical Assistant I – Young Lab

REPORTS TO: Principal Investigator or other supervisory lab personnel
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
The Young Laboratory is seeking a technician at the post undergraduate level to assist in the discovery and validation of new approaches in small molecule drug discovery. Training will be provided and the technician will be expected to take on responsibilities in cancer and stem cell tissue culture, assay development, and screening. In addition to experimental activities, the technician will be expected to present work to a group of colleagues, think critically about experimental outcomes and scientific literature, and learn how to design experiments.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
• Maintain and expand stem cell and cancer tissue culture in accordance with lab practices and standards
• Assist in the development and performance of in vitro and in vivo assays
• Assist in the performance of in vitro and in vivo screens
• Maintain a laboratory notebook accurately describing operations
• Other tasks as required or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or a related field.
• Experience working in a research laboratory is a plus, but not required.
• Willingness to be flexible with work schedule
• Desire and willingness to learn
