The minimum base salary for the Consulting position is $65,000 and for the senior position $100,000, plus annual bonus. Salary may vary based on education, knowledge and experience.
 
Job Description:
The Botanist will be responsible for coordinating and/or managing environmental and botanical studies, including wetland delineations, for projects in different regions throughout the US. This includes identifying the appropriate vegetation surveys for a project, developing a scope of work and budget, coordinating with agency resource specialists, and coordinating and conducting surveys. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing data and preparing survey reports.     
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan and conduct/lead botany-related field work, including rare plant surveys, restoration and mitigation monitoring, natural vegetation community mapping and characterizations, and wetland surveys.
  • Supervise and work with other field personnel.
  • Coordinate with agency resource specialists.
  • Prepare rare plant and other botany-related survey reports and technical memorandums
  • Prepare wetland delineation reports suitable for submittal to USACE
  • Conduct impact analyses for rare plants and sensitive natural vegetation communities.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in botany, natural resources or equivalent. A master’s degree in a botany or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years (one year with master’s degree) of job-related experience conducting botany-related surveys including rare plant surveys and assessments, quantitative vegetation sampling and/or monitoring, plant community/association mapping, and wetland delineations.
  • Proficiency with plant identification and working familiarity with relevant floras.
  • Completion of a Basic Wetland Delineation course.
  • Exceptional and demonstrated technical writing ability.
  • Good organizational and data management skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
  • GIS experience preferred but not required.
