Lab Screening Technician I

 *Located in our St. Louis, MO Laboratory*

PAY: $17 - $18/HR + Full-Time Benefits

(3) SHIFTS: Monday - Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM OR 11 AM - 7:30 PM OR 1 PM - 9 PM


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists the Production Manager with sample processing and result reporting for IMMUNOASSAY TESTING.
  • Operates and maintains Screening Instruments and reviews of data in compliance with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of screening methods.
  • Troubleshoots issues with screening instruments.
  • Meets laboratory productivity targets on a consistent basis.
  • Assists with laboratory inventory.
  • Adheres to all security procedures for ensuring the confidentiality of donor information.
  • Adheres to all established guidelines outlined in Avertest’s Guidebook.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of screening methods.
  • Advanced ability to understand analytical techniques and procedures.
  • Advanced ability to understand laboratory instrumentation.
  • Advanced ability to understand certification requirements for CLIA.
  • Basic understanding of drugs of abuse that are tested.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to complete the job with no errors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to pass a color blind test.
  • Skill in the use of computers, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Biology, Forensic Science or relevant field preferred
  • Associates degree in a related field or CLT/MLT degree and certification
  • 1+ years of experience with Immunoassays

  • $17-$18/hour based upon experience and qualifications + which shift worked.
