Staff Property Accountant

Phillips Edison’s operating platform provides retail services including acquisition, redevelopment, leasing and management of grocery-anchored retail centers.

What you'll do:
The Property Accountant (Staff level) is responsible for understanding and reconciling all balance sheet and income statement accounts, and analyzing any variances from budgeted accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries, worksheets, reconciliation and other documentation to ensure that transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP.
  • Review transactions and make recommendations for accruals and deferrals.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports.
  • Reviews Balance Sheet and Income Statements per property to verify account balances and reasonable revenue and expense amounts.
  • Ensures accuracy of all general ledger information.
  • Ensures that all property and tenant information is up to date and correct through lease interpretation and cross-referencing against other property information.
  • Meets Accounting Department calendar deadlines.
  • Help in the approve process of accounts payable invoices for payment.
  • Assist with the preparation of bank reconciliations.

What we're looking for:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • One to two years of accounting experience, which can be gained from an internship position or previous employment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel).
