Child Welfare Program Specialist

If so, the Department of Health & Welfare, Family & Community Services is looking for you to join our team at our Westgate campus in Boise as a Program Specialist!
 
This position is responsible for applying detailed program knowledge in developing and/or maintaining program records systems, collecting information, preparing reports, performing a wide variety of administrative support functions, and acting as a liaison between the West Hub’s Safety Assessment Program Manager and external customers, including law enforcement.
 
We are actively seeking candidates who have critical thinking skills, developed interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, problem solving abilities and process management analysis skills.

Benefit Information:

Our generous benefits package increases the total compensation of a full-time (benefits eligible) Program Specialist making $23.31/hour to an estimated $33.93/hour.

Example of Duties
  • Tracking themes, trends, and organizational data. 
  • Researching and writing reports regarding specific cases or child welfare topics. 
  • Listening to customer’s concerns and making connections to the correct person to address those concerns. 
  • Scheduling meetings and staffings for manager, safety teams, and/or external partners. 
  • Specifically interacting with partners such as courts, law enforcement, and service providers to provide information requested. 
  • Hiring of administrative staff and provides supervision.  
  • Fiscal management such as processing invoices and researching fiscal data fixes.

  • Some knowledge of management practices.
  • Some knowledge of program or project planning and implementation.
  • Experience developing and evaluating policies and procedures.

  1. Good knowledge of child welfare practices. Gained by at least three years of professional work experience in the child welfare field, including safety assessment.
  2. Demonstration of solid customer service engagement skills. Gained by at least 3 years of professional work experience engaging with the public.
