Systems Engineer - Program Certification Level 4 (#00000299705 )


The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an advanced Systems Engineer (Level 4). The Program Certification team uses Systems Engineering principles to accomplish Federal Aviation Administration certification efforts for aircraft modifications in support of the United Sates Air Force customer. The individual in this role applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to certification projects. The role requires the ability to understand the interrelationships of all aspects in a system, including the impact of changes in one area to other areas. The individual must be enthusiastic and engaging, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Some travel may be required, and may be for extended periods of time working away from the OKC location. This position is located in Oklahoma City, OK.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintains certification plans and technical documents in support of regulatory compliance.
  • Utilizes tools and business systems to research, analyze, and compile technical data.
  • Participates in design and test lifecycle, providing input from the perspective of regulatory compliance.
  • Engages with certification authorities to achieve mutually agreeable solutions.
  • Adapts to changing requirements and operates well in dynamic conditions.
  • Builds relationships and interfaces with other members of the program, leadership, customers and suppliers to meet team objectives.
  • Determines and pursues necessary action to obtain desired results, in consultation with management.
  • Develops strategic approaches to complex systems integration and leads team members accordingly.

Work Authorization:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Clearance will be required post-start.                            

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 5+ years of experience with Systems Engineer Principles
  • 3+ years of experience working with the following FAA certified derivative aircraft element: Supplement Type Certification (STC)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active security clearance
  • 1+ years of experience with Model Based Engineering tools and languages such as Enterprise Architecture, Cameo, MagicDraw, UML/SysML, 3DX, CATIA.

Typical Education / Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
