Industrial / Manufacturing Engineer (Entry-level)

We are Lion Electric Company, a Montreal-based manufacturer of BEV school buses and BEV class 6-8 commercial trucks. With over 600 working buses and trucks on the North American roadways, we are doubling down on our commitment to be the premier producer of EV buses and trucks in North America. Currently we are building a 1M square foot manufacturing facility in Joliet, IL, our own battery manufacturing & assembly plant in Mirabel (Quebec), and a state of the art R&D engineering facility for vehicle development & testing. And we're looking for recent graduates to join us in building our vision!

What does the job entail?

Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, you will be involved in some of the following activities:
  • Layout development and improvement (we're a greenfield...so we expect to evolve & improve!)
  • Analysis and implementation of continuous improvement strategies to ensure safety & improve productivity
  • Coordination of risk assessments for existing and new processes
  • Develop & implement corrective actions to improve product/process quality
  • Target the needs for new tooling & jigs and assist in their design / fabrication / validation
  • Conduct time studies and analyses of assembly operations
  • Design & improve workstations
  • Support other members of both the industrial engineering departments and production teams to achieve our plant safety, quality, delivery, & productivity targets

What you'll need:
  • Creativity combined with a strong work ethic. To be effective in this industry, we have to be nimble and quick in our ability to facilitate change and improve
  • A safety-oriented mindset. Everything we handle is heavy and/or involves high voltage electrical systems
  • A desire to learn and develop your Lean Mfg knowledge (e.g. 5S principles, Kaizen, Line Balancing, PFEPs, etc.)
  • Flexibility. While we are currently only a 1-shift operation, with the transition to a 2-shift operation in the next 2-3 years, you may be asked eventually to participate in off-shift work
  • The ability & desire to blend together industrial & manufacturing engineering skillsets
  • A strong knowledge of MS Suite
  • The ability to effectively communicate
  • The ability to work in a team-based environment
  • The desire for continuous improvement & adaptive learning

Please note: This is a greenfield manufacturing plant. As such, it is expected that ALL engineering hires will be based out of the manufacturing plant in Joliet, IL. This is NOT a remote position. Also, we are not currently sponsoring work visas. We will however consider candidates with CPT/OPT credentials in place.
