Drug Product Scientist Fall Co-Op

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Material and Analytical Sciences department located at our Ridgefield facility. As a Co-Op, you will be working in a dynamic environment to develop novel critical material attributes of processes by applying relevant mechanistic models.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Involved in powder processing activities such as milling and tableting.
  • Apply mechanistic models on inherent processes to develop novel critical material attributes based on powder and crystal properties.
  • Collect high quality data and summarize findings for department seminar.
 
Requirements:
  • Must be a Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing from Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutics, or other relevant discipline.
  • Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
  • Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
  • Major must be related to the field of internship.
 
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience in developing mechanistic models of unit operations and manufacturing processes is essential.
  • Experience in matlab or python programming is required.
  • Good understanding of material science and formulation development of small molecules including relevant characterization techniques is preferred.
  • Experience in in-silico prediction of crystal mechanical properties is a plus.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
