Quality Control Analyst- Summer Internships

Grain Processing Corporation (GPC), a member of the Kent Corporation family of companies has an exciting opportunity to "learn and earn" with an Internship at our production facility in Washington, IN. This is a paid internship ($19-20/hour) with the possibility of paid housing as well. The QC Analyst role will perform testing on defined routine samples of products produced by Grain Processing Corporation, as well as additional special testing or projects as directed by the Analytical Services Manager or Department Chemists. Analysts will also do routine instrument calibrations and maintenance.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform the required analytical testing for each lab and take action regarding the results.
  • Perform special assays as required in each lab and take action as needed.
  • Perform maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment when needed.
  • Work on special projects related to method/instrument development and validation as directed by the manager or chemist.
  • Prepare and standardize chemical solutions and media necessary for the lab.
  • Know and use good lab practices. This involves proper cleanup of the lab areas and good safety habits.
  • Properly use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), the system used to store all lab data.
  • Provide training and instruction to new and existing employees as directed by the Analytical Services Manager.
  • Communicate with customers and production management to resolve issues and take appropriate action when problems arise.
  • Maintain good communication with all Analytical Services co-workers, Analytical Services Management and Chemists, and Production personnel.
  • Issue and validate certificates of analysis for customer shipments and approve product shipments for release.
  • Initiate and maintain a meaningful log for communication.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • College student majoring in a science related field.
  • Ability to make decisions independently with little or no supervision.
  • Proven communication (oral and written), organizational, math, and computer skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
