Supply Chain Summer Intern

Direct Supply is the country’s largest provider of products and services for senior living facilities.

The Supply Chain teams are responsible for sourcing, analyzing, and managing the suppliers and providers that support the business and have a direct effect on our nation’s seniors. As a Supply Chain Intern, you’ll drive work and projects that support Supply Chain responsibilities. The Supply Chain Intern will have the opportunity to work closely with leadership, Supply Chain professionals, and attend events with company executives. If you’re looking for an internship experience that can give you autonomy, exposure and opportunity for full-time employment upon graduation, this position is the right one for you! This intern position is in our TELS business and is year-round, accommodating a part-time schedule during the school year and full-time during breaks and summer. This position may also lead to full-time employment upon graduation for the superior performer.

What You’ll Do and Impact:

  • Investigate and analyze reporting and trends to identify and improve supplier performance and quality
  • Assist with developing and managing supplier relationships, including negotiations
  • Onboard suppliers, including: system setup, contract loading, documentation practices, and ensure successful transition into the Direct Supply portfolio
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvement strategies within team
  • Actively participate as a resource on project teams and/or programs to support business initiatives and objectives
  • Partner with the Data Analytics team to provide reports and analysis on key supply chain metrics and costs
  • Learn Supply Chain best practices and/or tools (e.g., forecasting, importing, distribution, cost modeling, logistics, value stream mapping, total cost of ownership)

What You’ll Need:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Supply Chain, Operations or a related field
  • Ability to work 15-25 hours per week while classes are in session and 40 hours per week during breaks
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and an eagerness to learn new processes and technology
  • Analytical with effective problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Possess poise and the ability to interact with people in a professional manner
