Position Description: Equity Trading STEM Development Summer Internship Program
Our 8-week program provides undergraduates with a hands-on introduction to algorithmic trading. As a contributing team member, you will get real-world experience and be fully immersed in the day-to-day business activities of one of the world’s largest financial institutions. Equity Trading STEM Development Summer Interns (“Summer Interns”) will work closely with the U.S Electronic Trading Team, and specifically its developers and quantitative analysts, to assist in and support the development of equity trading algorithms, execution analytics and quantitative research.
 
This position builds on the interns’ academic training in science, technology, engineering and mathematics related curriculums by exposing them to practical application of STEM concepts in equity trading. Interns will participate in tasks and projects involving data science, short-term forecasting, model factor research and testing, algorithm development and model/algorithm performance attribution.
 
Additionally, once on board, Summer Interns not only participate in a robust training program, but the program’s structure provides each intern with the support they need for a successful summer. There are networking events, professional speaker series, end of summer reviews, and significant learning opportunities outside of day-to-day projects. Summer interns work on multiple projects simultaneously to enhance analytical, practical financial, and professional skills, providing the broadest exposure to our firm and our capabilities.
 
 
 
 
Role Responsibilities
A Summer Intern’s specific responsibilities may include conducting qualitative research, applying scientific techniques to support trading operations, and reviewing research as a means to gather insight in support of developing processes.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Apply scientific techniques in support of trading algorithm development and quantitative research.
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of core analytical capabilities or model libraries.
  • Interpret and communicate results of research and recommend new processes and/or action plans.
 
Qualifications
Summer Intern candidates should possess outstanding academic credentials and have demonstrated strong leadership ability through involvement in extracurricular endeavors, such as student government, athletics, and/or cultural and entrepreneurial activities.
 
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in a STEM field
  • Interest in pursuing a career in financial services
  • Exceptional ability to apply scientific techniques to problem solving
  • Strong capacity for problem solving and quick-thinking
  • Driven, proactive, and team-oriented approach to tasks
  • Demonstrated track record of achievement in academics and extracurricular activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple simultaneous project deadlines
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5
  • An anticipated graduation date of Fall 2022 or Spring 2023
