Corporate Real Estate

The Corporate Real Estate team is composed of Planning and Development (formally called Design and Construction) and Airport Affairs. These two teams work together to secure lease spaces and manage all major construction and renovation projects at our hubs, stations and city locations across the world.

Job overview and responsibilities – Planning and Development

Intern responsibilities will include providing assistance with the development of airport master plans, analyzing gate and terminal layouts, and providing support for project managers in general planning tasks. The candidate will work on multiple phases of projects often assisting multiple departments within the Corporate Real Estate group. Under general supervision, the intern will work from the design of others and perform routine aviation planning assignments. Assignments may include higher-level aviation planning work for training/development purposes.

· Develop and maintain central repository for system wide gate plans and exceptions, supports the Gate Layout Council (GLC) and analyzes gate layouts for compliancy of United's Gate Layout Standards Manual (GLSM)

· Review updated schedules for new aircraft/fleet roll outs and gate requirement changes.

· Develop internal solutions for gate layout and striping efforts for gate apron envelopes (GLSM).

· Assist in reviewing airport master plan and development concepts, United support and operational space master plans, feasibility studies, land/easement acquisition services, aviation planning services, and support for project managers in general planning tasks.

· Assist in performing research, gathering and analyzing data and developing phasing plans to mitigate impacts to gate operations coinciding with construction projects.

· Assist in preparing written reports and deliverables for terminal and gate planning studies.

· Assist in performing technical analysis and developing conceptual layouts for the purpose of providing recommendations for terminal or off terminal facilities and aircraft movement areas including gates, remote parking and hangar layout and parking.

Qualifications - External

Required

· Majoring in Civil Engineering, Aviation, Aviation Management or Architecture

· High level of integrity/strict adherence to protecting confidential information

· Excellent verbal and written communication

· Attention to detail and highly organized

· Good organizational and planning skills

· Experience using AutoCAD

· Research and Analysis

· Initiative

· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

· Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

· Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

· Availability to accommodate a hybrid attendance schedule; 2-3 days in office (Chicago)***

· Rising Senior with previous Civil Engineering, Aviation, Aviation Management, or Architecture internship experience

Preferred

· Advanced knowledge in operation of Excel
