Risk Assessment Internship - Summer 2022

Job Summary
The NiSource risk assessment team uses a new probabilistic risk model to assess the condition of the gas transmission and distribution systems. The team works with a complex model that uses hundreds of variables, factors, and questionnaire data to split the pipelines into thousands of dynamic segments to produce quantifiable risk values, based on each segment's unique conditions. The team uses the model to identify 'needle in the haystack' risks that could be otherwise missed, identifies areas for data improvement, and improves decision making and prioritization of pipeline assessments, replacements, and other risk reduction activities. Model maintenance requires iterative and detailed analysis to ensure model validation and maintain synchronicity with changing data sources and attribution. A successful summer intern candidate will assist with the detailed work of analyzing and validating the risk model results, data sources, formulas, factors, and produce action able reports and results.

Successful candidate must be capable of working virtually, in the office as well as a hybrid model of both scenarios.
