MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Within six (6) months of employment: Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Parks and Recreation or Business Administration
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.
Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of parks and recreation functions and activities;
Knowledge of equipment management;
Knowledge of Park maintenance and construction principles;
Ability to schedule, coordinate and train employees;
Ability to use computers and related software such as spreadsheets, database and word processing;
Ability to develop solutions for complex problems;
Ability to consistently interact with the general public and staff with a courteous demeanor and attitude;
Ability to coordinate and motivate employees;
Ability to maintain good interpersonal relations;
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing;
Ability to research products and vendors for park projects;
Ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions.
DESCRIPTIONGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs a variety of administrative and skilled duties required in maintenance, park projects and park planning. Works under the direction of the Deputy Director and coordinates staff in the above listed areas; performs related duties as assigned.
STATEMENT OF TASKS:
Coordinates full-time Maintenance staff and seasonal staff; Recommends plans and implements Parks projects;
Coordinates and provides site supervision of projects at all buildings and facilities;
Assists in ensuring proper maintenance of all Parks facilities;
Maintains the Parks preventative maintenance program for buildings, grounds and facilities;
Conducts field inspections and determines approval of projects to ensure that projects have been completed in accordance with established specifications;
Assists the Director of Maintenance and Project Management and Park Superintendent in administrative duties;
Assists in the development of annual goals and evaluates progress in meeting those goals;
Assist in the development and execution of bids and purchasing matters;
Assists the Director of Facilities Management in the upkeep of all computer equipment, programs and network connectivity;
Assists the Director of Facilities Management in managing Parks Asset Management;
Assists the Director of Facilities Management in the upkeep of ArcGIS and other Parks software;
Assists in developing and maintaining budgets;
Ensures public and employee safety;
Assists the Director of Maintenance and Project Management with development, implementation, and performance tracking of grants applications;
Prepares reports and maintains records as required by local, state, and federal agencies.
