Engineering Technician
APTech has immediate openings for hard-working, well-organized engineering technicians. These full-time positions are located in APTech’s corporate office in Urbana, Illinois and the Madison, Wisconsin area and will require multi-day travel. Engineering technicians assist the engineering staff with project work, including activities such as database development, field surveys, field testing, and data displays (using CADD and other programs). Technicians may also be responsible for maintaining and operating specialized testing equipment, such as falling weight deflectometers, coring rigs, automated distress data collection vehicles, and profilometers. In addition, technicians may have primary responsibility for certain portions of a project and may direct the activities of other team members.
Position requirements:
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (such as Word and Excel)
- Good overall computer usage skills
- Experience with mechanical and electrical systems, field inspection/testing, GPS data, and GIS software desired
- Good communication skills
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when necessary
Training will be provided to develop technical and professional skills. Preference will be given to individuals with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as from a construction or engineering technician program).
