Outreach Coordinator - Georgia

Description:
The employee will work with Pheasants Forever, Inc. & Quail Forever (PF & QF) to lead education and outreach efforts in Georgia and Florida. Primary duties will be to increase awareness of conservation and outdoor recreational opportunities within the state of Georgia and Florida, with a strong focus on program delivery in the Thomasville, Georgia area. This position will work directly with PF & QF staff, chapter volunteers, and partners to coordinate, promote, and deliver PF & QF education and outreach events.
 
The ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors with experience in conservation education and outdoor skills education. The candidate must understand how consumptive use (hunting, fishing, etc.) and conservation are connected and have a passion for helping Georgia and Florida stakeholders connect to the outdoors. Travel will be expected throughout the state of Georgia and Florida with occasional travel nationally for national and regional meetings.  
 
Duties:
  • Work closely with PF & QF chapters and partners in Georgia and Florida to build awareness of outdoor recreational opportunities available to citizens, and promote these connections, focusing on PF & QF education and outreach program delivery
  • Become familiar with the strategies outlined in both the National Hunting & Shooting Sports and the PF & QF National Hunter Recruitment, Retention & Reactivation (R3) Action Plans
  • Work with PF & QF staff, chapters, and partners to develop and host events and activities that are R3 strategic for youth and adults, with a focus on promotion within diverse user groups
  • Provide a leadership role in working with local PF & QF chapters to deliver community-based outdoor education and conservation projects
  • Track program results to determine program effectiveness in recruiting and retaining youth and young adults in the outdoors
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among partner conservation organizations and state wildlife agencies to maximize attendance and leverage resources at outreach events
  • Evaluate and adapt programs to maximize results and outcomes
  • Participate in and assist PF & QF Regional Representatives with chapter customer service and fundraising activities
  • Organize and train adult volunteers to deliver outreach programs
  • Travel required
 
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Applicant should possess a minimum of an Associate Degree and 3 years of field related experience
  • Experience in outdoor skills education, conservation education, and event coordination preferred 
  • The ideal candidate has a passion for conservation education and outdoor skills education (shooting & hunting) 
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience related to establishing pollinator/wildlife habitat
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sporting firearms in target shooting and hunting scenarios 
  • Advanced Hunter Education Certificate and shooting experience a plus  
  • Candidate will be required to get shooting instructor certification
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead volunteers and partners
  • Fundraising experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently as well as working with team members to accomplish common goals
 
Salary: $34,000-$46,000 commensurate with education and experience, plus benefits
