Data Science - IT Intern
Key Responsibilities
- The Data Science Interns will collect and analyze data to help make better business decisions.
- Collecting data by analyzing business results or by establishing and managing new studies
- Transferring data into a new format to make it more appropriate for analysis
- Creating new, experimental frameworks to collect data
- Building tools to automate data collection
- Searching through large data sets for usable information
- Creating reports and presentations for business use cases
- Correlating similar data to find actionable results
- Organizing and transforming information into comprehensible structures
- Performing statistical analysis of data
- Proficient in using Google Sheets
- Using tools and techniques to visualize data in easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams and graphs
- Using data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns
- Preparing reports and dashboards to present to management
- Identifying and recommending new ways to save money by streamlining business processes
- Monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data
Requirements
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate should be working toward their degree in a quantitative field of mathematics, computer science, physics, economics, engineering, statistics, operations research, quantitative social science, etc.).
- Basic Knowledge on software development principles and architecture.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to break down and understand business problems, define a solution, and make recommendations to implement it using advanced quantitative methods.
- Familiarity with programming for data analysis; ideally Python, SQL, or R.
- Solid oral and written communication skills, especially around analytical concepts, and methods.
- Great work ethic and intellectual curiosity.
- Knowledge of Cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS or Google Knowledge of any relational database such as My SQL or Microsoft SQL.
- Must be a team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills and have experience working with customers across types: full time, contract.
