Basic Purpose
Marketing Data Science & Data Analytics Internship

Job Description 

Support the Marketing & Communications Department in achieving its ambitious goals, while gaining valuable insight into Navy Federal’s business, technology, resources, and procedures. Participate in a collaborative, team-driven networks and interact with multiple departments. Receive guidance and direction from team and management. Utilize and further develop technical and soft skills, business knowledge, analytical techniques and creative problem-solving abilities. Provide professional execution of day-to-day tasks and special projects while working within established standards, policies and procedures. This is a year-round, flexible, internship based on school schedule. All Intern candidates who have graduated from high school must be enrolled in college. To be eligible for this position you must currently be a student. 

** To qualify for the Summer Internship Program, applicants must be currently pursuing an associates, undergraduate, or graduate degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of August 2022 or later. **


Responsibilities 
 
•   Assist in mining data and providing analytics at the member level to gain a better understanding of their usage of products and services, including impacts of current marketing strategies.
•   Collaborate on project planning/prioritization meetings, business partner meetings, data prioritization meetings, etc. 
•   Present findings and insights to various levels of staff (including senior management) to drive business and marketing decisions
•   Develop and select the accurate metrics for tracking and understanding current and future marketing efforts
•   Process and update data in automated systems; may generate and analyze reports
•   Assist in developing dashboards that provide reliable insights and visualization into member and channel performance relative to performance indicators, projections, and historical performance
•   Maintain professionalism in all interactions, placing member service as priority
•   Provide comprehensive day-to-day operational support
•   Provide support in functional areas of the credit union
•   Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications (UPDATED VERSION)

•   Must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college/university

Desired Qualifications 

•   Relevant coursework in either Marketing/Business, Economics, Statistics, or Computer Science
•   Some exposure or familiarity with SQL, Python, R, or another scripting language. 
•   Some exposure or familiarity with statistics, regression analysis, and/or machine learning.
•   Experience visualizing data and creating reports, e.g. Tableau, Excel, Power BI
•   An interest in consumer financial decision-making and behavior

*Due to COVID-19 and social distancing, this position will be temporarily working from home with plans to return to campus at the desired location listed once Navy Federal is back to normal operations. The specific logistics for returning to campus will be determined at a future date by individual leadership. All interns will be expected to report to campus once we resume campus operations.
 
Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week
