MRIGlobal is seeking a highly motivated analytical or bioanalytical chemist to join our team. The position involves experience in development and validation of analytical methods for the quantification of chemicals, e.g., environmental pollutants, in complex biological matrices.  The ability to use a variety of analytical instrumentation, such as chromatographic (GC, HPLC, UHPLC) and spectroscopic/detection techniques (MS, UV, fluorescence, FID, FPD, etc.), is required.  Experience with various biological sample preparation techniques (LLE, SPE, etc.) is desired.  Experience or the ability to learn in these areas is necessary.
 
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in analytical/bioanalytical chemistry; or
  • M.S. in chemistry plus 3 years of relevant experience; or
  • B.S. in chemistry plus 6 years of relevant experience
 
Experience:
Knowledge and hands-on experience in the following areas is preferred:
  • Analytical or bioanalytical methods development and validation;
  • Chromatography and spectroscopy/detection, including HPLC (UV, fluorescence, etc.), GC (FID, FPD, ECD, MS, etc.) and LC-MS/MS (ESI, APCI, etc.);
  • Biological sample preparation techniques for complex matrices (e.g., plasma, blood, liver, brain, etc,), including solid-phase extraction (SPE), protein precipitation (PPT) and liquid-liquid extraction (LLE);
  • Analytical instrument troubleshooting and maintenance;
  • Experience with ELISA and other bioanalytical techniques;
  • Experience with chromatography data systems such as Analyst, MassHunter, and Empower;
  • Experience in an FDA and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) compliant environment is preferred.
  • Experience serving as the Study Director or Task Leader for FDA-GLP studies is preferred.

  • The applicant needs to know how to draft and follow validation protocols and Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), handle laboratory projects and investigations, summarize, report and/or review findings, and perform daily tasks within laboratory to ensure compliance with SOPs and GLP.
  • Proven organizational and interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Problem solving abilities, creativity, efficient time management.
  • Ability to analyze samples, troubleshoot, and make basic repairs to laboratory instruments.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking.
  • Effective working individually, in a team, or collaborating with outside groups.
  • Ability to meet client expectations in a timely fashion.
  • Well organized and methodical, yet flexible to changing priorities.
  • Work on time critical projects for the analysis of potentially harmful environmental chemicals.
  • Effectively build and maintain positive relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization.
